Star Wars Galactic Heroes

Greetings fellow Grognards and Young Guard!  Hope you are all doing well!  For this installment, I've dug into the picture archives, in honor of the May the 4th Celebration!

Last year, my daughter, cats (you'll see!) and I slugged it out on a 4' x 4' battlefield in a small section of Tatooine.  The scenario set a Rebel force against local Imperial Police Force of Sandtroopers.  Objective for the Rebels was to cross the board and highjack the cargo shuttle.  For the Sandtroopers, it was prevent the shuttle from being taken.  

Sandtroopers started with a stimulation that they could not proceed towards the shuttle, which was on the opposite corner of the board, same deployment side as their forces, until they were either fired upon but the Rebels or passed a skill test to perceive/ detect the Rebels headed to the ship.

Luckily for the Stormtroopers, it only took until the second turn when the Rebels decided to take the initiative and cut loose on the unsuspecting Imperial forces!  Damn the Rebel scum!

The battle was fast and furious!  Unfortunately, we had to cut the battle short!  The Young Guard had done well, but the Imperial forces did enough damage to the Rebels to drive them off to call it a win for the Grognard!

Fistful of Lead - Galactic Heroes - Imperial Infantry and Vehicles

Good Evening Fellow Grognards and Young Guard!  Tonight is the night where it finally happens!  No, not the demise of humanity!  I finally surpass my 2021 painting total!  TADA!  Hmmm...maybe fireworks next time would be better....

For your viewing pleasure, I submit to you the remainder of my Imperial "footsloggers" Infantry!

All models for this squad are 3D prints.

Of course, with all of those squads, you need some good Imperial Officers and Communications Trooper to coordinate the attacks.  All models below again are 3D prints.

So with that I have tied my 2021 record!  To put this thing over the top, I figured I'd go big!  Below is not one, but two vehicles I intend to use in my Star Wars/ Galactic Heroes games!

First up is a shuttle craft.  The shuttle is a 3D printed offering.  Easy to assemble and paint.  The only change I still need to make to this vehicle is add a small magnet and plate to the rear of the craft to keep the shuttle ramp door closed when desired.

The interior of the shuttle cargo compartment is detailed, showing multiple jump seats, which I have painted up.

 

Following up the shuttle, I was able to pick up a 3D printed hover cargo transport model with a bunch of cargo.  I saved the large piece of cargo for the back of this vehicle while saving the others for scatter terrain.  You'll see more of my scatter terrain soon!

Well, there you have it!  171 models painted this year and more to follow.

Fistful of Lead - Galactic Heroes - Hoth Project

 

Welcome fellow Grognards and Young Guard to another posting of 'Of Dice and Army Men!'

Today's blog is a little taste of an upcoming project around Star Wars and Hoth!

When Vader was ready to deal with the Rebels on Hoth, who did he turn to?  General Veers, of course!  General Veers was an reliable commander of the Empire and Vader counted on him to crack the nut of the Rebel stronghold on Hoth.  The Assault on Hoth included AT-ATs, AT-STs and Imperial Snowtroopers.

For awhile now, I have been entrenched in building up forces for Galactic Heroes on the planet of Tatooine.  One day, I had the itch to paint the following two models.  I scratched that itch and it gave me a breath of painting fresh air that allowed me to go back and paint some more troops for Tatooine.

The figure below is from Fantasy Flight.  I rebased him and used my acrylic texture base and mixed it with some acrylic white for the snow.  Applying the paste liberally to the base to catch the snow pack effect, I also added some larger gravel for accent.

For the next figure, I had found a 3D print online.  Originally, in Empire Strikes Back, this creature had limited screen time, and mostly as a partial creature.  With the film revisions, this creature got some additional play and full body shots at that.  For my second figure, I present, ...

...the WAMPA!

There you have it, a taste of things to come!  On the deck are some Imperial and Rebel Snowtroopers, Luke, Han and Leia in snow gear and more!

I have a few more figs go to to break my 2021 record.  I hope you will continue with me on this quest!
